The 1967-68 year must have been a good time to join Royal Arch Masonry judging by the number of 50 year certificates we have to present this year. The latest was presented by E Comp Peter Whysall, the Second Provincial Grand Principal, to E Comp. Allan Jackson at the October meeting of Chapter of Truth.

Allan’s masonic career began in January 1959 when he was initiated into the Chatsworth Lodge; he occupied the chair in 1975 and became P.Prov.SGW in 2004 and received his 50 year certificate in the Craft in 2009. He was exalted into the Chapter of Truth in June 1967 becoming MEZ in 1986 and promoted to PPGSN in 1999.

Being a qualified Civil Engineer he has held many jobs of great responsibility including overseeing the building of the cooling towers at Willington Power Station.  He was the Treasurer for the Derby Society of Structural Engineers, also the treasurer of the Chapter and my understanding that in his various roles as treasurer he kept a very tight hold of the purse strings.  This could not be said for his personal life as he and his wife of over 60 years Winifred have enjoyed many exotic holidays around the World. He enjoyed playing rugby for Derby RFUC where he was the full back. This love of rugby has continued with the family and his Grandson, Andrew, is now a full-time referee in the Aviva Premiership.
