The Deputy Grand Superintendent and his Officer in Attendance, EComp. Tom Allford, together with other members of Provincial Grand Chapter attended the Installation meeting of the Chapter of Justice 253 on Tuesday 10th January. It is 228 years since the Chapter first met in Nottingham under the auspices of Union Lodge, although from the beginning Tyrian masons were members. It transferred to Derby under Tyrian Lodge by express permission of the Duke of Sussex in 1815, although it was told to be “circumspect” about who it exalted because “certain changes” were afoot in Royal Arch masonry! Its “official” age dates from its Charter of Confirmation in 1822, when its original Dunkerley Warrant had to be returned (although the Chapter retains a copy). The Chapter is amassing evidence which it hopes will result in its true age being officially recognised.

A total of 41 companions enjoyed  the festive board – a spicy parsnip soup followed by beef and onion pie, C&B and tea/coffee for only £15.
