The WM of Cornucopia Lodge was well supported by his brethren when he was exalted into the Holy Royal Arch in the Chapter of Justice on Tuesday 14 November. His proposer, the Provincial Grand Master, had waited patiently for Ranjit Singh Dol to be ready to take his fourth step in pure and ancient masonry and was accompanied by the Deputy Grand Superintendent, the Provincial Grand Scribe N and a number of other acting Chapter Officers. A great exaltee, a very good ceremony and overall a most enjoyable night.
It was particularly satisfying that ceremony and festive board were so enjoyable because the evening started on a very sad note with eulogies delivered for Brian Harper and Denzil Philips who had both passed to the Grand Chapter above in the previous two days. Denzil had been a classmate of Ron Dodsley and Richard Keene at Bemrose School (pity the poor teacher), for very many years was a driving force behind the Chapter of Justice and had been awarded the Grand Superintendent’s Certificate of Merit. The work on his partly completed History of the Royal Arch Chapters of Derbyshire will be continuing in other hands, and his work on the Neville Cryer collection continues under Paul Chaffe.
