More than 30 Derbyshire companions attended the Annual Investiture of Supreme Grand Chapter at Freemasons’ Hall on 27 April to see E.Comp. Colin Cantrell appointed to the rank of Past Grand Standard Bearer.
This was followed by lunch at the Connaught Rooms (lager £5.50 a pint!!!!), or rather for Derbyshire and Devonshire, in the annexe where the serving staff found it incredibly easy to be useless, rude and inefficient. Shame that such a good day could be so influenced by De Vere Hotels.
Never-the-less we made our own fun and our efforts to entertain the Grand Superintendent of South America (Northern Division) and his Second Principal (also the Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Orient of Brazil) were well appreciated by those two companions. Why on earth were they placed in the annexe with us? Obviously our natural charisma is well known beyond our Provincial boundaries.

Next year the luncheon arrangements will be better.
