Tony Harvey succeeded in his get fit and raise money campaign and reached the summit “Old Man of Coniston” (803 metres above sea level) on Sunday, his 60th birthday.
He was accompanied by 20 Scouting and Masonic friends, including others from Derbyshire and afterwards they celebrated with a meal at the Coniston Institute.
Although the plan was originally just to get fit, he has raised over £3,300 so far and all proceeds go to the Derbyshire 2025 Festival in aid of the MCF, as part of the Royal Arch Provincial Grand Chapter’s contribution.
Tony wishes to thank all those Companions who have supported, encouraged and sponsored him.
Companions can still show their support by making a gift-aided (if appropriate) donation to Tony’s campaign via https://fest2025.everydayhero.com/uk/tony-harvey-s-60th-birthday-mountain-walk
The “Old Men and their Mountains” campaign will continue and Tony will shortly announce a new “get fit to raise money” quest, again for the Festival, scheduled for next summer – details to follow.
Companions can follow the story by joining Tony’s “Old Men & their Mountains” Facebook group.
