It may have been my hardness of hearing, but from where I sat at Supreme Grand Chapter’s Annual Convocation (fourth row back in the balcony), I’m sure I heard the Duke of Kent, First Grand Principal, congratulate E.Comps. Eddie Foulds and Philip Bowler on their immaculate footwear when he invested them as Past Grand Standard Bearers last Thursday. After previous occasions he had been expecting impoverished shoes from Derbyshire companions – but no!

In all around twenty of us were there to see these very well-deserved appointments, and we all enjoyed a good lunch in the Connaught Rooms afterwards.
