The threatened snow stayed away long enough for Derbyshire companions and their Distinguished Guests to fill the temple and almost fill the Mostyn Dining Room and extension at the Annual Convocation last Saturday 17th March. Frozen roads in deepest Norfolk kept only one visitor away.
283 were in the temple to enjoy a very happy meeting and to support those who were appointed and promoted in Provincial Grand Rank and 183 stayed for lunch (Tom’s Archetypal Individual Cottage Pie starter; Fillet of Hake in tomato, rosemary and wine sauce; and the now traditional Sticky Toffee Pudding with toffee sauce) served with Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc.
Chapter-red Bromeliads from our usual generous supplier formed superb table decorations and gave lunch a tropical forest feel.

All our visitors returned home safely to Cumberland and Westmorland; West Lancashire; East Lancashire; Yorkshire West Riding; Cheshire; Lincolnshire; Nottinghamshire; Shropshire; Staffordshire; Leicestershire and Rutland; Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire; Worcestershire; Warwickshire; Bedfordshire and Norfolk before the snow hit, albeit that the intrepid explorers from Lincolnshire had to leave a little early.

Thanks to all who helped – you know who you are!
